Dorothy “Pug” L. Bargar, 69 of Cannelville, passed away suddenly at her home, in the early morning hours, with her loved ones by her side on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Pug was born on September 26, 1957, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Erma I. (Cullison) Rupe. She worked for various places, such as Economy Linen, Essex Ceramic on Linden, and Nelson McCoy Pottery. She was an exceptionally hard worker who stayed busy her entire life.
She loved spending time with her family, especially when they made trips to the local Dairy Queen. Pug also enjoyed watching the Lifetime Channel and The Virgin River series, as well as playing cards. Pug was quiet, but could also be feisty, and always stood for what she believed in.
Pug is survived by her three sons, Shad Hiles, Shawn Hiles, and Gary Evans Jr.; step-sons, Travis Pletcher, Kippy Pletcher, and Toby Pletcher; granddaughter and grandson, Tracey Hiles and Brody Straight; great-grandson, Levi Straight; nieces and nephews, Peggy (Terry) Pletcher, Melissa Harris, Sherry (Everette) Bowers, Hope (Jon) McElfresh, Matthew Evans, Andrew Starcher, Gary Evans, Ronnie Evans, Kelly (Paul) Newman, Julie Rupe, Harold (Jackie) Cullison, Carla Cullison, and Tina Cullison; caregiver, Kayla Pletcher; special friend, who called Pug “Granny”, Betty Dunkle; grand dogs, Ziggy, Mary, and Bruiser; as well as several cousins and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Pug is preceded in death by the love of her life, Skipper Pletcher, who passed away on September 8, 2018; her siblings, LeRoy Cullison, Louis Rupe, Melvin (Cassandra) Rupe, and Mary (Melvin) Starcher; as well as her special nephew, Austin Evans.
Visitations will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A funeral service will take place at 1 PM following visitations. Pastor David Nuhfer will officiate the service. Pug will be laid to rest in the Stovertown Lutheran Church Cemetery.
