Doris M. Wise passed away peacefully, while in the loving and comforting presence of her family on Friday, September 11th at the Beckett House of New Concord, she was 86 years old.  She was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana July 21, 1929 to Gurth and Inez Harper.  Doris M. Wise was a member of Tanner Valley United Methodist church of Lawrenceburg Indiana.

Doris attended Ball State University and was an honorary member of Pi Omega Pi business organization and the Gamma Gamma Sorority. She was a charter member of the Muncie Soroptimist Club. She began her business career at Nelson Machine and Tool Co. in Muncie, IN.  Doris retired from the Muncie Community school system and was also a long time employee of Bruner’s Restaurant in Muncie, Indiana.  In her later years in life’s journey she enjoyed the peacefulness of visiting with those she loved and knew as they gathered around her porch as a central location for discussing everyone’s daily life experiences.

Doris was blessed with the wonderful gift of compassion and caring not only for her family, but she always placed others first, and made those around her, feel special as she touched the lives and hearts of many people.  May all whose lives were touched by Doris; kindly reflect back on the difference she made in your life to, in turn, make a difference in someone else’s life.

She is preceded in death by her mother Inez and father Gurth Harper of Lawrenceburg, Indiana. As well as, her sisters, Fern Edmiston of Menlo Park, California and Rowena Sidebottom of Bronxville, New York and her brother Hubert Harper of Suffolk, Virginia. She is survived by two sons, Mark (wife-Stacy) Wise of Cambridge, Ohio and Matthew (wife-Jennifer) Wise of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doris is loved by her five grandchildren Audrey, Annie, Abby, Ashley, and her husband, Tony Burdette, Dakota Archer, and great-granddaughter Kaylin Burdette.

The family kindly request that all who knew and loved Doris sign the on-line guest registry in order for her family to provide information regarding a future date for an event for all to gather to celebrate Doris’s life.  Doris’ family would also like to provide the staff at the Beckett house with their sincere gratitude for the care and comfort that they provided to Doris, thereby making her remaining days ones filled with comfort and peace.
