Donald F. Moyer, 94, of Zanesville, formerly of Duncan Falls, Ohio, passed away on May 28, 2025 at his home. Born on July 30, 1930, Don led a full and active life marked by dedication to family, faith, business, and community.

A proud businessman, he owned and operated laundromats, a grocery store, and a cable television company. He was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Church, sharing in the legacy of his immigrant Durant family. Don served in the U.S. Naval Reserve aboard the USS Columbus and USS Wisconsin. His civic involvement was extensive; a founding member of the Muskingum Valley Oldtimers Baseball Association and 17 yrs coached Babe Ruth and minor league baseball in Duncan Falls. Notably, Don brought Pete Rose to their banquet in 1971. He was a delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago and was honored as “Knight of the Year” in 1989 by the Knights of Columbus Council #505. Don also dedicated 21 years to the Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department where he was assistant chief for six years. For 27 years Don ran the clock at the Philo football games and was inducted into the Franklin Local Hall of Fame. Don served as an officer for 15 years for PERI, working to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision of Social Security.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, whom he married in 1981; his children Deborah (David) Newton, Tim (Anne) Moyer, Don (Tracie) Moyer, Jill (Jeff) Staggers, Jennifer (Mike) Johnson, Denise (Jeff) Wasson; and stepchildren Tom Hartley and Jennifer (Bill) Clark. Don was a beloved grandfather to Brian, Brady, Brett, Brice Newton; TJ Moyer; Tristin Baley; Kyle and Heath Moyer; Lindsay Penley; Dalton and Logan Kirkbride; Megan Gayheart; Austin Johnson; Ashley Welbaum; Lane and Brooke Wasson; Alex Gibson and Madison Eggers; Jacob Hartley; Allie and Sydney Clark. He also leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Moyer Peyton and Jeannie Moyer Good; as well as his furcats, Mol-lei, Baby Girl, and Sammie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Meryl and Louanna (Durant) Moyer; his first wife Virginia Moyer; siblings Bill, Marilyn, David, and Tom; mother and father-in-law Perl and Beryl Stimmel; and granddaughter Breanne Newton.

The Moyer family welcomes friends and family to Farus Funeral Home on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Farus Funeral Home 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio 43734, from 2- 7 PM. A prayer Vigil for Don will begin at 7pm with Pastor Kristin Santiago. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father David Young as celebrant. Don will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
