Dolores J. Mahon

Dolores J. Mahon, 88 of Philo, went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2022 at SharonBrooke Assisted Living in Newark.

Dolores was born in Zanesville on March 9, 1934.  She is the daughter of the late Orville and Laura (Paul) Henderson.  She was a former member of St. Ann’s Church in Philo, and a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Zanesville.  In 2010 she was nominated to be the Diocese of Columbus’ Catholic Woman of the Year for the great works she did in the Parish and the community.  She was a selfless giver and servant to her brothers and sisters in Christ.  She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  A former member of the ladies American Legion Auxiliary. She served as Harrison Township Clerk for 38 years.  She retired from Bloomer Candy Company.

Dolores is survived by her five of her six children, Connie (Kenny) Skidmore, Rodney (Janee) Mahon, Marcia (John) Fisher, John (Kelly) Mahon, and Christina (Jim) Ethell; her daughter-in-law, Amber Mahon; her 21 grandchildren, Cassie (Josh) Wymer, Bill (Nikki) Boggs, Jennifer (Jason) Focht, April (BJ) Little, Abby (Cory) Mill, Mathew (Sadie) Mahon, Sarah (Jared) Dosch, Amanda (Gary) Hargraves, Alicia Fisher, Joe (Brianna) Fisher, John (Belinda) Mahon, Stephanie (Brad) Ruff, Kelsey Mahon, Jacob (Michaela) Mahon, Leeah Mahon, Ciera (Nathan) Raines, Ashley (Cody) Sprankle, Zach (Becky) Ethell, Chelsey (Collin) Babcock, Cloe Ethell, Baylee Ethell; her 39 great grandchildren; her two great great grandchildren; her three sisters, Sister Michelene Henderson, Donna Jardine, Celeste Maxwell; her sister-in-law, Judy Hamilton; her brother-in-law, Stanley Dee (Valerie) Mahon.

In addition to her parents, Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Mahon, who passed away July 29, 1987; her son, Doug Mahon, who passed away September 1, 2009; her brothers, J. Paul Henderson, Joseph Henderson, Robert Henderson; her sisters, Betty Plants, Dorothy Dudas, Mary Caroline Johnson

Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Monday, November 28, 2022 at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, 955 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant.  Dolores will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Philo.
