(New Concord) David James Smith passed away on Monday, February 10th, he was 45 years old. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on November 11th, 1968 to Dick and Joy Smith. David was a hard worker, and a dedicated family man. He loved his children and his wife deeply, and there was nothing that made him happier than the time he spent with them. David was an incredible vehicle body man, he was a true artist; and his love for working on cars truly came out when he was repairing a body. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes. He was an amazing cook, and made a delicious pizza. The moments he cherished most were the ones that he spent with his sons, Micah and Cash. Whether it was watching a movie, working on a Trans Am, or sled-riding with them he always made the most of their time together. David leaves to mourn his loving wife of 19 years, Melinda Smith, and his sons, Micah R. Smith and Cash M. Smith. He will be missed by his parents, Dick and Joy Smith, and his brothers, Dick (Vicky) Smith of Cambridge, Jeff (Traci) Smith of New Concord, and Kenny (Vicki) Smith of New Concord; as well as his father and mother-in-law, Phil and Sherry Jirles, his sister-in-law, Melissa (William) Morgan, and a host of other friends and family. A gathering will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (formerly the Mock Miller Funeral Home) 63 West Main street, on Thursday, February 13th from 10 to 12 Noon. Services will begin promptly at Noon, and burial will take place at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in New Concord. Reverend Anne Weirich of the College Drive Presbyterian Church will be officiating.
