Danny B. Hartman

Danny B. Hartman, 80 of Philo, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022, while at his home and surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was born on July 6, 1942 in Philo. He is the son of the late Forrest and Clarice (Trout) Hartman. Dan retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Sidwell Brothers after many years of faithful service. Dan was member of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department for 47 years, where he served as Chief for many years. Dan loved to be a part of the fire service, and showed it by being active in the Southeastern Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, Muskingum County Fireman’s’ Association, and of course, the Harrison Township Fireman’s Festival. However, Dan’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family, especially at cookouts.

Dan is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis (Brearley) Hartman, who he married on March 24, 1961; his children, Kevin (Dena) Hartman, Robin (Bengi) Williby, Kelley (Wesley) Collins, and Troy “Jake” Hartman; his grandchildren, Cory, Cody, Chevy, Danielle, Jed, Samantha, Brittany, Andrew, Kylee, and Kelsey; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Conner, Sophia, Liam, and Addyson; his siblings, Carl (Sue) Hartman, Wava Schuster, Mary Lou Coen, and Pearl “Bib” (Emmett) Frazier; many nieces, nephews, and friends; his furry companions, Maize, and Pete; and his two special friends, Bobby Beardsley and Donny Alexander.

In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Careins; and his siblings, Freda, Ruth, Donna, Beulah, Sonny, and Wayne.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on August 13 at 1:00pm, at the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department, 300 3rd Street, Philo. The Farus Funeral Home is caring for the Hartman Family.
