Daniel "Danny" R. Harris

Daniel “Danny” R. Harris, 76, of Duncan Falls, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

Danny was born January 4, 1948, in Zanesville to the late Jack “Shine” and Maxine (Gilmore) Harris. He worked at Ohio Ferro Alloy for thirteen years, and later retired from Burnham Boilers. He attended church at Duncan Falls Baptist Church, and also at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church. Danny never met a stranger, and was always the life of the party. He was a die-hard Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan. Danny is a proud member of the Philo Athletics Hall of Fame for his incredible achievements in records across many sports. He loved kids and enjoyed playing and having fun. Danny also had a green thumb, and enjoyed nature and gardening. He enjoyed swimming, and snow birding in Florida every winter, and especially enjoyed watching the sunsets.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Sherry (Fox) Harris; his four children Heather (Michael) Steinzor, Hank (Tarrie) Swiney, Kim (Christian) Kruegel, and Amy Lumbatis; his five grandchildren Alivia (Jimmy) Moore, Brice Swiney, Cheyanne Steinzor, Andy Lumbatis, Ayden Harris; his siblings Roberta “Bobbi” Harris, and Debbie (Roger) Calendine; his sisters-in-law Shirley Holland, Susan (Alan) Hall, and Shelly (John) Marshall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Jackie (Myron) Martin, his father and mother-in-law Wayne and Mary Fox; and his brothers-in-law Jerle Holland and Ronnie Smith.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the team at Morrison House Hospice for their care and compassion throughout his time there.

A caring cremation will take place. Danny will be laid to rest in Meigs Church of Christ Cemetery in McConnelsville.
