Daniel Howard Amspaugh, age 91, passed away peacefully at The Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, Ohio on Wednesday September 4, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1933 in Carroll, Ohio to the late Howard and Mary Hizey Amspaugh.
Daniel retired from Essex/United Technologies after 40 years. He was very active in the community as he was well known for his many years of serving as a Coach and Player Agent for Philo/Duncan Falls Little League, an active member of the Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department for many years where he enjoyed working at Bingo on Monday Nights. He was inducted in the Franklin Local Wall of Honor in 2013. He enjoyed bowling with his co-workers from the factory for over 30 years, fishing with family, and always had the cleanest car in town! He was a Board Member and Elder at the Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church and a proud member of the Philo/Duncan Falls American Legion Post 246as he served in the Army in 1953-1955.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gladys Pearce Amspaugh. Together they had 5 children: Daniel (Judy) Amspaugh, Teresa (Kevin) DeMent, Kevin Amspaugh (Vina McCormick), Dwain (April) Amspaugh, Darren (Lisa) Amspaugh. Grandchildren: Kelli (Tyler) Buchanan, Leigh Ann (Michael Quinn) Amspaugh, Jake DeMent, Trista (Joel) Harris, Lindzey (Jaron) Waite, Lakkin (Julia Gutridge) Amspaugh, Caleb Amspaugh, Cortney (Travis) Compston. Great-grandchildren: Blaise, Briley, Braunson, Lily, Allie, Ashten, Mason, Isla, Wrenley, Hudson, Cora, Claire. Great-great grandchild: Zaelynn.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his 4 brothers: Paul, Kenny, Roger, and Herb and 5 sisters: Ruth, Edith, Juanita, Arleeta, and Eileen.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oaks at Northpoint for all their care and the residents and their families for their friendship.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls and also 10 am to 11 am on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, following visitations, at the Funeral Home. Frank Clifton will officiate the service. Dan will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
The Wayne Township Fire Department will honor Dan for his service at the graveside.
