Conrad Garner

August 5, 1968 — August 8, 2014

New Concord Conrad David Garner was called Home to the Lord on Friday, August 8th following a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was 46 years old. He was born August 5th, 1968 in Zanesville, Ohio to Joe and Margaret Garner. Conrad graduated from John Glenn High School in 1986; and Washington Technical College in 1988 with an Associate of Applied Science. He worked for both the Tenneco Gas Company, and Lashleys Tractor Sales in Zanesville. Conrad was a member of the Masons. At one point, at the age of 21, Conrad served the Village of Norwich as the State of Ohio's youngest Fire Chief. He loved to keep busy, just mowing the lawn made him happy, but he really enjoyed repairing equipment. He was a true master of crafts, who could do everything from electrical wiring to plumbing. His faith in God ran deeply; so much that he called two churches home. Both the New Concord United Methodist Church and the Christian Life Center in Heath, Ohio fed his spiritual needs. His true center was his family, whom he loved deeply. Their presence always brought him joy and comfort. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kayla Rae Garner. He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Tammy Lynn Garner, and her children, Chelsi and Brenden Partin. He also leaves to mourn, his parents, Joe and Margaret Garner, his sister, Andrea (Kathy Boettcher) Garner, his brother, John (Heather) Garner, his nephews, Jack and Evan Garner, and his life-long friend, Wayne Muse; as well as his In-laws, Frank and Brenda Neal, brothers-in-law, DeWayne Neal, and Anthony (Rhonda) Neal, and his sister-in-law, Kim (John) Castle as well as a wealth of other family, friends, and former co-workers. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that friends consider donations to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701, the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 East High Street, New Concord, Ohio 43762, or the Christian Life Center, 665 Linnville Rd SE, Heath, OH 43056. Calling hours for Conrad will be held on Monday, August 11th, from 5 to 8PM at the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 East High Street, New Concord, Ohio; with a Masonic service taking place at 7:45PM. Additional calling hours will also be held on Tuesday, August 12th from 12 Noon to 1:30PM at the New Concord United Methodist Church, with services beginning at 1:30 with Rev. Karen B. Graham officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is entrusted with arrangements.
