Colleen R. Starrett

Colleen R. Starrett, 95 of Zanesville, formerly of Duncan Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Helen Purcell Home where she has been a resident since 2011.

Colleen was born on June 6, 1928 in Licking View, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Charles R. and Anna Mae (Byers) Thompson. Colleen worked for and retired from United Tech on Linden Avenue, but she also worked for Thompson Furniture Village in Duncan Falls, Curl’s Royal Blue Grocery in Duncan Falls, and McCoy Pottery in Roseville. She was a former attendee of the Chandlersville Church of Christ, as well as the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Philo. Colleen was very active in her community, being a part of the Philo-Duncan Falls Homemakers Club, a charter member of the Duncan Falls Lioness Club, the Philo-Duncan Falls Lions Club, the Zanesville Business Women group, and she was a seventy-one year member of the Olive Branch Chapter 251 OES.

Colleen is survived by her son and daughter, Mike (Kathy) Starrett and Emma Lou (John) Watton; her grandchildren, Meghan Starrett, Michelle Starrett, Scott (Wendi) Bone, Jennifer Bash, and Jason (Sheri) Bash; her great-grandchildren, Kason, Mackenzie, Hayley, Sophie, Abi, and Tierany; her son-in-law, John (Karen) Bash; her siblings, Charles H. (Betty) Thompson and Constance J. Thompson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Colleen is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Starrett, who passed away on February 15, 2006; her daughter, Yvonne Bash, who passed away on July 20, 2005; her granddaughter, Carrie Dowdy, who passed away on July 21, 2022; her siblings, Esther M. Bartlett and Rolland Thompson.

Visitations for Colleen will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Eastern Star services will be held at 6 pm on Friday. Funeral services for Colleen will be at 10 am on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Frank Clifton will officiate the service. Colleen will be laid to rest beside Harold in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
