Christine C. Hughes passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3rd at the Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, she was 100 years old. She was born June 28th, 1914 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Clarence and Lulu Gibson. She graduated from New Concord in 1932, and married the love of her life, Herbert Hughes, in 1934. Christine was an amazing mother, who taught her children to stand on their own, and to cherish their family. She was an avid walker who was always on the go; she loved going out with her family, playing euchre, doing word searches, and trying to win her scratch off lottery tickets. She also loved being at the farm, especially when her family was around her. Her greatest pleasure was having her family around her. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Herbert Hughes, two brothers, two sisters, and her granddaughter, Lezlie Hohl Allan. She is survived by her children including her daughter, Marilyn (James) Beisser of Zanesville, daughter, Dianne (Gordon) Spillman of West Lafeyette, daughter, Cheryl Hohl of Newark, son Larry (Jo Ellen) Hughes ofHillard, Son, Robert Hughes of Norwich, son, James Hughes of Norwich, and son, Kevin (Marsha) Hughes of Norwich; as well as 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A gathering for Christine will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (Formerly the Mock-Miller Funeral Home) on Tuesday, October 7th from 10 to 11AM, with services starting at 11AM; burial will follow at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
