Charles E. Starr

Charles E. Starr, 91 lifelong resident of Chandlersville, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born December 2, 1932, in Greendale, Ohio.  He is the son of Theodore and Pauline (Nixon) Starr.  He was a member of the Blue Rock Baptist Church, an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed spending time gardening, woodworking and bowling. In Charlie’s later years, he enjoyed knitting hats and scarves for everyone. He retired in 1994 from Borden Dairy where he worked as a routeman for over thirty years. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.

Charlie is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Ervin, Teresa (Rod) Dunmead, and Eugenia Starr; his six grandchildren, Angel (Jonathan) Tucker, Bryan Ervin, Jeb (Valerie Simpson) Dunmead, Cody (Cassie) Dunmead, Allison Starr, and Marlenia (Kyle) Dunlap; his two great-grandsons, Carson Tucker and Cam Dunmead, and one great-granddaughter on the way; his siblings, Duane (Phyllis) Starr, Jimmie Starr, Luella Collins, and Louise (Jim) Mount; and his special friend, Shirley Rush.

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Starr who passed away June 12, 2004; his son-in-law, Keith Ervin; his five brothers, Paul, Lawrence, Roy, Roger, and Gary Starr; and his two sisters, Eileen Hedges and Wanda Collins.

Visitations will be from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Pastor Lisa Jenkins will officiate the service. Charlie will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Chandlersville Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army Color Guard and the George Selsam VFW Post #1058.
