Charles Snyder

June 14, 1918 — January 16, 2014

Cambridge - Charles Elza Snyder passed away peacefully at the Red Carpet Health Care Center in Cambridge on Thursday, January 16th at 1:05PM. He was 95 years old. He was born in Corley, West Virginia to John and Alma Snyder on June 14th, 1918. Charles spent most of his life working his farm with his brothers, often helping his neighbors when they needed a hand. From an early age it was apparent that he enjoyed working with wood, as he could often be found whittling while other children played ball. Later in life he honed that skill to such a degree that he could replicate an axe or broom handle with such precision that it looked as if it were factory made. He is predeceased by his sisters, Buelah McCumber and Olive Garber, and his brothers, Annis and Elbert Snyder, as well as his niece, Wanda Paden. Charles is survived by His caretakers, Eloise Gray and Danny Garber. He leaves to mourn his nieces and nephews, Lester (Connie) Garber, Lane (Marty) Garber, Wayne Garber, Randy (Penny) Garber, Gary Garber, Darrell (Mary) Garber, and Jean Beach. The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff and personnel of the Red Carpet Health Care Center for the wonderful care that they provided Charles. They were a blessing to both himself, and his family, with the outstanding care, sympathy, and concern that they provided Charles every single day. A viewing for Charles will take place on Monday, January 20th at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (Formerly Mock-Miller), on 63 West Main Street, from 11AM to 1PM. Services will be held promptly at 1PM, and burial follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery of New Concord.
