Charles "Chuck" Sherman St.Clair I

Charles “Chuck” Sherman St.Clair, 82 of New Concord, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Genesis Hospital with his family by his side.

Chuck was born on September 9, 1941, in Rich Hill Township. He is the son of the late Robert Dalton St.Clair and Mildred Collins.

Chuck honorably served in the United States Navy, and then later was the owner and operator of St.Clair Trucking for fifty-seven years as South Paw. He also owned and operated St.Clair Feed & Supply from 1982 to 1987. Chuck was the neighborhood mechanic, blacksmith, veterinarian, welder, and farmed throughout his life. He was the proud owner of Freedom Ridge Farm for forty-nine years. He served as Highland Township Trustee for twenty-four years. Chuck was a proud and longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed public-speaking. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved coon and squirrel hunting, and he was a cowboy who broke and rode many horses.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Helen (Barr) St.Clair, whom he married on November 27, 1966; his children, Chuck St.Clair II, Karen (Bob Swingle) Martin, and Rosanna (Jason) Howard; his grandchildren, Austin St.Clair, Adam Martin, Lane Howard and Harper Rose Howard; his sister, Joyce “Joy” St.Clair of Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Mumford and JoAnn Starcher; his in-laws, Harper and Eileen Barr; as well as his two close cousins, Raymond St.Clair and Harry Robert St.Clair.

Visitation for Chuck will be from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. Visitation will also be held for Chuck from 12 to 1 on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service. Chuck will be laid to rest in Bloomfield Cemetery.
