IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Eugene "Gene"
Savage
June 25, 1941 – March 15, 2026
Charles Eugene (“Gene”) Savage, age 84 of New Concord, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was the only child born to the late Charles and Elsie (Kirk) Savage on June 25, 1941, in Zanesville, OH.
Gene worked for 45+ years in the banking industry having found his calling as a community banker with Century (Park) National Bank which afforded him the opportunity to help many families while building trusted relationships through the years. If you knew Gene, then you also know that he liked to talk and was always happy to strike up a conversation and share a laugh when you crossed his path. Gene was an avid hunter and so enjoyed his hunting trips with cherished friends.
Gene was a stalwart officer and member of the New Concord Lions Association for more than 50 years, served on the Board of Evergreen Retirement Village, and was a member of the Christ’s Lutheran Church and previously, East Union Presbyterian Church.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Juanita (Davis) Savage; his children, Beth (Zena) Savage, and Brent (Robin) Savage and four grandchildren; stepdaughter, Laurie (Dan) Stoner, and their extended family.
Beth and Brent would like to extend a warm thank you for all the love, support, and care that Gene received from Juanita's family through the years. In addition, Beth and Brent want to acknowledge and thank the Genesis Healthcare teams in New Concord and Zanesville, as well as the OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital Team in Columbus, and extend a special thank you to the caring medical professionals at the OhioHealth Hospice/Kobacker House.
Gene will be laid to rest privately at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in New Concord. There will be no public services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, Beth and Brent would ask that you consider making a donation in Gene’s memory to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, 510 East North Broadway, Suite 401, Columbus, Ohio 43214 or online at https://www.dsaco.net/donate/.
