Obituary

Carolyn Monroe Hall, 79 of McConnelsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

She was born on August 14, 1947, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Grier) Monroe. Carolyn received her bachelor’s degree in education, and continued on to dedicate twenty years of her life as a special education teacher for the Perry and Morgan School Systems.

Carolyn partook in many social activities- such as founding the Shenandoah Riding Club, becoming a 4-H Advisor, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and participating in the Special Olympics as a coordinator and coach. Carolyn was a Methodist by faith and was a member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, studying history, and showing her bull terriers. Carolyn was an avid animal lover in general.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Whether it was baking them pumpkin pies, attending concerts, or simply spending time with them, Carolyn was at her happiest.

She is survived by her son and daughter, Adrian Hall and Melinda (Ron) Yerian; grandchildren, Ian (Katherine Binns) Hall, Olivia Yerian (Richard Feller), and Ashton Yerian; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth “Red” Hall, whom she married on January 6, 1968, and who passed away on July 19, 2014; her son, Justin Hall, who passed away in 1976; as well as her brother, Dallas Monroe.

The family asks for donations to be made in Carolyn’s honor to Shriver’s Hospice or your local animal shelter.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Cumberland Cemetery, 328 Cemetery Street, Cumberland, Ohio 43732. Pastor Joe Rowland will officiate the service.
