Carol L. Mathews

Carol L. Mathews, 74 of Norwich, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Advent Health Hospital in Tavares, Florida.

Born on January 22, 1951, in Zanesville, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Franklin) Ralph. She dedicated her career to serving others. Carol worked as a fiscal officer, and then Executive Director of the Muskingum County Senior Citizen’s Center, where she was known for her compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors in her community. She eventually retired from the Area Agency on Aging Region Nine.

Carol found joy in traveling with her husband, especially during the winter months they spent at their home in Florida. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Tommy L. Mathews, whom she married on September 3, 1993; her children, Paul (Amy) Kimble Jr., Jodee (Chris) Yunk, and Adam Mathews; her grandchildren, Max (Kristen) Harmon, Ethan Harmon, Madison Kimble, Kaylee Kimble, Lainey Mathews, Logan Mathews, and Alexis Smith; her great-grandchildren, Karley, Amia and Ava, as well as one great-grandson named Owen on the way; her sister, Nancy (Delbert) Pierce; her lifelong friends “YaYa’s”; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her siblings, Lura Winters, Bob Ralph, and Skip Ralph.

Visitations for Carol will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. A funeral service for Carol will be held at 1 PM following visitations. Pastor Roger Morrow will officiate the service. Carol will be laid to rest in the Norwich Methodist Cemetery.
