Carl C. Work, 90 of Eagleport, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 1, 2023 after a short illness. Carl was born in Durant, Ohio on May 22, 1932, the son of Roy E. Work and Doris K. (Mercer) Work.
Carl was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed for 34 years at the Ohio Ferro Alloy Plant in Philo, Ohio. He was a member of the VFW Post #4713, The American Legion Post # 24, the Eagles #2187 and the Farm Bureau. He was a West Bloom Township Trustee in Morgan County for 27 years and Morgan County Dog Warden for many years. He and his family were owners and operators of the Eagleport Store. Carl loved restoring John Deere Tractors and was the owner of several. Carl’s other interests were Coonhunting, Fishing, Hunting, Working the sawmill at the family farm, Woodworking and making furniture, trashcans, vegetable bins, and other items which are proudly owned by family members and those who purchased them, putting in large gardens at home and at the farm, Photography, being a member of the Morgan County Camera Club, 4-H advisor, farming on his family farm from the time he was raised as a child to prior to his death, and Genealogy which included research and compiling the Work Family History Book. Carl was also an active member of the Morgan County Historical Society and volunteered many hours at the Historical Museum. He also donated and created many books of historical information to the Historical Museum in hopes others will come to see and enjoy.
Carl is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marlene (Goble) Offenburger Work, who were married on March 10, 1982. He is survived by his five children, Debbie (Allan) Hivnor, Gary (Meg) Work, Chris (Rosa) Work, Steve Work, Marcie (Jim) Wicker and their mother, Mary E. Clemens Work all of McConnelsville, and his two step-daughters, Michele (Drew) Blackburn of McConnelsville and Melissa (Chris) Lutz of Centerville, Ohio. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his two brothers, Roy L. Work and Paul D. Work.
Carl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and was loved dearly by them, and a great friend and neighbor who was always there for anyone needing his help.
Great appreciation is sent out to Shriver’s Hospice and Kathy Montgomery, Karlie Totman, Karlie Willis , Joe Rowland, and Kayla Hite. Their great care given to Carl and the kindness and compassion shown to him and his family will never be forgotten.

Visitations will be 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls and also from 11 to noon on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at the Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 12 pm. Pastor David Brown will officiate. Carl will be laid to rest in the McConnelsville Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #24 Color Guard.
