Rev. Carl R. Finley

Rev. Carl R. Finley, 89, of Zanesville, went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 17, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House in Zanesville.

Carl was born July 16, 1927 in Monroe, MI, the son of the late Josie and James Finley.

He served the Fair Oaks Baptist Church as the Minister for several years and previously served the First Baptist Church in Xenia and previous to that the Fair Chance Baptist Church in PA.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, driving and sightseeing in the Sugar Creek Area and spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He served his country in the US Army.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Janelle (Eugene) Taylor of Zanesville; his three grandchildren, Trista (Greg) Berkte, Nicole (Mark) Lane and James (Katelyn) Taylor; his five great grandchildren; his brothers Gene (Joan) Finley of MI; his sisters Shirley (Leroy) Simpson, Donna Crook and Hanna O’Neil all of Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Janet R. Finley; his son, Timothy Eldon Finley; his brothers Roy, Ed and Jay Finley.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Carl from 4 to 8 pm Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.  Visitations will also be held from noon to 1 pm at the Fair Oaks Baptist Church, 1025 Woodlawn Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 1 pm with James Taylor officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full Military Honors provided by the US Army Color Guard, George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
