Obituary

Carl Gibson, age 67, passed away on April 13, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by love, dedication, and dependability.

Carl was a man you could always count on. Whenever someone needed him, he was there—steadfast, generous, and selfless. His family and friends knew they could rely on him, and he showed his love through his constant presence and support.

Carl shared 43 loving years of marriage with his wife, Diane. Together, they built a life grounded in commitment and care. He was a proud father to his son, Kyle, and his daughters, Mandy Riehl (Nate Worthington) and Sarah Tysinger (Timmy).

One of Carl’s greatest joys was being a grandfather. He deeply loved his eight grandchildren—Koen, Katon, Kortlynn, Kanon, Taylee, Tripp, Atley, and Finley—and nothing made him prouder than watching them play sports. Cheering from the sidelines, he found pure happiness in supporting each of them.

A hardworking and loyal employee, Carl retired in 2020, after 44 dedicated years at Burnham Foundry (Casting Solutions), where he served as a proud Union President, earning the respect of coworkers through his strong work ethic and reliability.

He loved cheering on his favorite team as an avid Chicago Bears and Ohio State Buckeye fan, faithfully supporting them through every season, even the losing ones.

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Smith (Ronald), Dale M. Gibson (Kevin), Tina Pride (Paul) and Pennie Dewart (Kenneth). Carl was preceded in death by his father, Dayle E. Gibson, and his mother, Hattie M. Gibson, as well as his parents in law, Albert J. Ellis and Patricia A. Lafollete.

Carl will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man who always showed up for those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

Visitations will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A funeral service will take place at 12 PM the following day, with visitations from 11 AM to 12 PM prior. Pastor Terry D. Newman will officiate the service. Carl will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
