Betty Ward, 95 of New Concord, went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2023 at the Genesis Hospital Emergency Room.
Betty was born on April 1, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a 1945 graduate of Smithfield High School. She was a graduate of Muskingum College. She received her Master’s degree in Education. She worked many years as the Music Teacher for East Muskingum Schools and also vocal music director for John Glenn High School. After retirement she continued her love of music, she directed The Traveling Country Christian Choir and was a member of the Zanesville Singers. She also owned and operated the White Pillars Antique Shop and the White Pillars Christmas Shop. She was a recipient of the 2013 American Red Cross Hometown Heroes award for Education as well as being inducted into John Glenn High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. She was a 60 + year member of the New Concord United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her three children, Charles Stewart (Jane) Winner, Douglas Evan (Debbie) Winner, and Virginia Louise (William) Wetzel; her grandchildren, Sunny (Ed) Grothaus, Leslie (Kyle) Bolton, Christine (Neil) Grobler, Charles Stewart (Dayanara) Winner II, Seth (Gretchen) Winner, Andrew (Amy) Winner, Abby (Dustan) Dale Sarah Louise (Bob Boley) Wetzel, Elizabeth Ann (Scott) Whitfield; seventeen great grandchildren; her two sisters, Jane (Steve) Sax and Karen Lurie; and her brother-in-law, Chris Werthman.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Werthman.

Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 West Main Street in New Concord, OH.
Visitations will be 10 am to 11 am Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 East High Street, New Concord, Ohio. Funeral services will be at the Church at 11 am. Pastor Philip Wilden and Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
