On Wednesday August 16, 2017, Betty Taylor passed from this life to her home in heaven. She left an indelible mark with the way she cared for her family and her creativity with flowers and quilts.  She was born on October 2, 1932 in Hopewell Township to Roy and Ruth Ardrey.  Preceded in death by her husband Albert E. Taylor and her parents Roy and Ruth Ardrey, her sister Mary Ann (Don) Casey and Myron (Anna) Ardrey; she is survived by her brother, Jim (Hinda) Ardrey.  She married Gene in 1955 moving to the home she shared with her family for 62 years. Betty loved her family and friends and gave much of herself in all she did. A hard worker most of her life, she and Gene raised their children to be strong and independent. Among her many interests were baking, sewing, knitting, and flower arranging. She volunteered many hours while her children were in school followed by working at the Election Board. She is remembered for her work with flowers at Slasor’s Flowers in New Concord. She was very creative and had a wonderful sense of color. Betty also taught quilting at local stores and was a founding member of the Pieceable Quilters Quilt Guild teaching many generations the love of creativity. She continued sharing her quilting mastery during the winters teaching classes in Charlotte Harbor, Florida. She was a master quilter and leaves a legacy of many colorful quilts to those she loved. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Calling Hours will be held at Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Saturday August 26th, 2017, 10-12. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 Saturday August 26th.  Pastor Roger Morrow will officiate services, and burial will follow at the Norwich United Presbyterian Cemetery.  Donations in lieu of flowers will be accepted at Sonora United Methodist Church or Hospice.
