Medina, formerly of New Concord

Betty Colin Dasch, age 99, of Medina and formerly of New Concord, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at Brookdale Camelot Senior Living in Medina, Ohio.

Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Betty was one of six children of Joseph and Katherine (Boxdorfer) Colin. She was a proud member of the Steubenville High School Class of 1943 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Summa cum laude degree from Muskingum College in New Concord in 1971.

A devoted member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Ohio, Betty was active in numerous organizations throughout her life, including the Federated Club, the New Concord Jack and Jill Mothers’ Club, Feed My People, and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA). She attended ten national WELCA conventions. She traveled and camped extensively across North America from Alaska to Costa Rica with her husband.

Betty wore many hats in life —  devoted stay-at-home mom, Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout den mother, adult college student, Spanish language teacher, volunteer, and faculty wife. Alongside her husband, she became an amateur insect collector and helped identify map locations, proof read, and type several of his published books. Visiting, caregiving, and quilt making for Lutheran World Relief occupied much of her free time in later years.

For the past six years Betty has lived at Brookdale Camelot, in Medina, where she was known for welcoming new residents. She was an associate member at Zion Lutheran Church in Valley City, but remained a generous supporter of Christ’s Lutheran Church in Cambridge.

Betty married her beloved husband, Clement E. Dasch, on December 30, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2007. She was also preceded in death by son James R. Dasch March 28, 2017, and siblings Ray (Mary) Colin, Dorothy (George) Burnett, Claire (Maurice) White, Robert (Marcia) Colin, and Alice (Gerald) Minto.

She is survived by her sons: Gregory (Marina) Dasch, Cameron (Jean) Dasch, and Richard (Barbara) Dasch; daughter-in-law, Amy Dasch; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Brown, Jeffrey (Christina) Dasch, Andrew (Jess) Dasch, Katy (Mark) Dasch, Sam Dasch, Trevor (Meredith) Dasch, Matthew Dasch, Peter (Marisa) Dasch, TJ (Madeline) Dasch; six great-grandchildren: Oliver, Jason, Jesse, and Sarah Brown, Brandon and Tristan Dasch; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
