Betty Jane (Nicholas) Burson, 89, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord December 27, 2014, after a brief stay at Cambridge Health Care. Betty was born June 29, 1925, in Newville, Braxton County, WV to the late Oran Mack and Cassie Knicely Nicholas.
Mrs. Burson is survived by her five children: Esther (Bill) Hacker, Velma Kunze, Bruce (Linda) Burson, Martha (Steve) Cochran, and Emily (Mike) Paslay; seven grandchildren: Leonard Lytle, Natilee (Brian) Campbell, Vanessa (Ian) Panth, Vaughn (Natalie) Kunze, Vance Kunze, Brian (Teresa) Burson, and Paul Paslay; and eight great-grandchildren: Daniel Lytle, Quentin Lytle, Christopher Panth, Corban Panth, Caleb Panth, Zoe Burson, Grant Kunze, and Elyse Kunze.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leonard Burson; her parents, Mack and Cassie Nicholas; brother, Dale Knight; brother, Oran Nicholas; sister, Louise Ruhl; infant daughter, Karen; son-in-law, Bill Lytle; and son-in-law, Val Kunze.
Betty was a homemaker in every sense of the word! She loved baking, cooking, sewing, and always had a broom in her hand! She provided a wonderful home for her family as well as any “adopted” family (friends and neighbors). She earned her GED at the age of 85. As a pastor’s wife she was very generous, and would give to anyone she thought was in need. The family would like to thank the staff of the Cambridge Health and Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care of our dear mother.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Tuesday, December 30th from 9 to 11AM, services will beginning promptly at 11AM, and will be officiated by Pastor Martin Hennessy. Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 31st at 11:30 AM at the Bryn Zion Cemetery in Mt. Gilead Ohio.
