Bernice Durst

Bernice Durst, 78, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at her home on October 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 25, 1946, in Grundy, VA, Bernice was the daughter of Henry H. and Ollie E. (Helton) Gross. She dedicated her career to nursing, working as a Registered Nurse at Genesis Hospital and several nursing homes throughout the area. She also worked as a real estate agent and at Brockway Glass in Zanesville.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tom Durst; her two children, Thomas E. "Tink" (Lynn) Durst II, Sherri Wade; her grandchildren, Bryson (Jennifer) Durst, Ashleigh (Greg) Carter, Julie (Alex) Marti, Kayla (Steven) King, David “Bo” Henley, Blake (Samantha) Durst, Cody Humphrey, Tiffani (Dillon) Beardsley, Darra (Kieron) Durst, Savanaha (Mark) Wade, and Rachel (Joey) Wade; 15 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ray (Judy) Gross and Tony Gross; her brother-in-law, Bob McGilton; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendi R. Durst, an infant daughter, Rhonda Mohler; her two brothers, Carlos and Donald Gross, and her two sisters, Judy D. Miller and Connie McGilton.

Private graveside services will be held, and she will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is honored to care for the Durst family.
