Barbara A. Sharkey

Barbara A. Sharkey, 72 of McConnelsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Riverside Landing Nursing Home.

Barbara was born on February 13, 1953, in Zanesville. She is the daughter of the late Wayne and Florence (Liff) Dunkle. Barbara dedicated her life to ensuring her family was always well taken care of. She never missed a BINGO, Euchre, or Solitaire game, and loved to buy BINGO lottery tickets. Barbara rarely watched TV, but she was always playing older country music and loved to participate in karaoke. Above all, Barbara cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Christy Newton, Cindy Sagle, Eugene (Dusty) Sharkey, and Melissa (Jake) Cordray; her eleven-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brandi, Kim, Bret, Brandon, Austin, Dustin, Laci, Hayley, Levi, and Bryan; her bonus granddaughter, Alyssa; her several great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Brian (Janet) Dunkle and Rick Dunkle; her several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger E. Sharkey, whom she married on October 28, 1972, and who passed away on January 4, 2013; her two sisters, Linda Fouty and Sue Pletcher; her two brothers, Mark Dunkle and Dave Dunkle; her nephew, Billy Dunkle; as well as her son-in-law, Ryan Newton.

Visitations for Barbara will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM the following day at the funeral home. Pastor Joab Rowland will officiate the funeral service. Barbara will be laid to rest beside Roger at Locust Grove Cemetery.
