Arlene M. Matchett of New Concord, passed away suddenly in her home on Thursday, October 8th, She was 90 years old. She was born March 16th, 1925 in Tuscarawas County to Ralph D. and Alverda Emig Zimmerman of Dover. She first married Arthur G. Stein on June 3rd, 1945, and remained so until his untimely death on October 29th, 1965. She then married Donald E. Matchett, on November 9th, 1974; a loving union that lasted for over 40 years. She worked at the Associated Telephone C. in New Philadelphia, and later at General Electric in Coshocton, later retiring from there after 24 years of service.
She was a member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, and attended the Otsego Methodist Church with Donald. She was a member of the National Cambridge Glass Club, the Fenton Glass Club, the Fostoria Society of America, the National Imperial Glass Collectors Society, and SOAR Active Retirees. She also worked as an antiques and collectibles dealer for a number of years. She also was a member of the G.E. Ladies bowling team and the G.E. Ladies golf team.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Matchett, her son, Tim Stein, her daughter, Nancy Stein Burkholder, her son-in-law, Gary Burkholder, and daughter-in-law, Connie Stein. She will be deeply missed by her 3 step-sons, Steve (Becky) Matchett, John Matchett, and Marvin (Candace) Matchett. She also leaves several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours on Monday, October 12th at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord from 10 to 12 Noon. Services shall begin promptly at 12, and burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, 120 W Union St, West Lafayette, OH 43845 or the Otsego Methodist Church, 11705 PLAINFIELD RD, NEW CONCORD, OH 43762.
