Alyce "Polly" Lutz

October 4, 1946 — March 2, 2024

Philo

Alyce P. “Polly” Lutz, 77 of Philo, passed away peacefully at her home on March 2nd, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer.

Polly was born in Zanesville on October 4th, 1946.  She is the daughter of the late James L. and Donna J. Durst (Hartman). Polly was very well known in the Philo-Duncan Falls area from owning and operating Polly’s Restaurant from 1984 to 2008. Her customers were very dear to her and she always enjoyed seeing them, even when she was throwing eggs at them or putting jelly worms in their mashed potatoes.

Polly supported many of the athletes and sports teams throughout the years from the youth leagues up to the High School teams. She was inducted in the Franklin Local School District Alumni Wall of Honor on January 20, 2007, she also served on the Citizens National Bank Board of Directors, and Polly was very proud of her family.

Polly is survived by her son, Matt (Sandy) Lutz; granddaughter, Abby (Matt) Brumley; grandson, Trey and his girlfriend, Morgan; and her favorite little buddies, great grandsons, James and Jude Brumley. She will be missed by her coffee drinking buddies, Uncle Carl and Cousin Butch as well as her close cousins, the sisters she never had, Jean and Ronda. Polly will also miss her talks with her close “sister” friend Sandy Luburgh.

Along with her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Lutz on July 12th, 1994.

Please make memorial contributions in Polly’s name to the Lt. Michael J. Lutz Memorial Scholarship, c/o Zane State College, 1555 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.

Private graveside services were held and she was laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery beside her husband.  The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Lutz family.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to: www.farusfh.com
