Allan J. Maxwell, 80 of Philo, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

He was born on January 7, 1946, in Zanesville, to the late Virgil and Nellie (Shields) Maxwell. Allan proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Brockway Glass for forty-six years until his retirement.

Allan loved watching Star Wars, and spent several months putting together the Lego Millennial Falcon in 2023. He also enjoyed finding work around the house and his garage, always finding a new project to complete.

Allan is survived by his two sons, Shawn (Heidi) Maxwell and Shane (Christy) Maxwell; his step-daughter, Marie Dembski; grandchildren, Katlyn, Jason, Hannah, Zach, Josh, and Noah; several great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Cathy (Mike) Shaeffer and John (Mary Ann Petrosky) Maxwell; his furry friend, Princess; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Allan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Maxwell, whom he married on June 19, 1993, and who passed away on April 3, 2022; as well as his siblings, Jerald Maxwell, Joyce Shaeffer, Jeffrey Maxwell, and Joel Maxwell.

In keeping with Allan’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is honored to care for the Maxwell family.
