Alice M. Payne, 82, of New Concord, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Genesis Hospital on July 26, 2026. She was born on April 25, 1944, to the late Craig Hicks and Mary and Richard Mayberry.

Alice attended Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Duncan Falls, Ohio. She loved long drives to the Amish country, as well as looking and shopping for antiques, tending to her spot at the National Road Flea Market, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog, “Ruby”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward A. Payne, whom she married on August 9, 1963, and who passed away on February 5, 2024; granddaughter, Vinesca D. Payne; sister-in-law, Shirley Payne; as well as two brothers-in-law, J.C. Lafever and Don Hanshaw.

Alice is survived by her sons, Vincent “Vinny” and wife Julie, and David and wife Lisa, all of New Concord. Five grandchildren, Kacey Garner, Genna (Dakota) Norton, Leaha (Josh) Fitch, Zachary (Samphors) Payne, and Michaela (Jon) Piper; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Lafever and Edith McGill; brother-in-law, Richard Payne; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Per Alice’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place and a private graveside service will follow on what would have been Edward and Alice’s 63rd wedding anniversary.
