Virginia Smith

Virginia Little Barr Smith of New Concord, went to be with The Lord Friday December 8th .  She recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. Virginia was born November 11, 1925 in Zanesville. She graduated high from New Concord High School in 1944. Virginia was a retiree of Champion Sparkplug where she worked tirelessly for 28 years. Following retirement she was devoted to her “Avon Route” on which she sold Avon for 40 years up until the age of 90! She was known for her spirited personality by her family and the many friends she had over her long life.

Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was known to be at most any event for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren over many years. She was lovingly known as Grandma to many far beyond her family.  Virginia was a devoted member of Otsego United Methodist Church and Golden 60s for a large part of her life. She enjoyed gardening and caring for chickens; and in her older years, jigsaw puzzles and feeding hummingbirds.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Mary Kathryn. Morrow, and Lois Ann (Dale) Morrow; her beloved Grandchildren Julie (Steve) Shriner, Jeremy (Robyn) Morrow, Laura (Jamie) Applegarth, and Jennifer (Joe) Clifford; Great Grandchildren Jenna and Jaylee Jordan, Megan and Max Morrow, Alex and Austin Applegarth, and Ava, Katie, Josie, and John Clifford; her brother Donald (Marti) Little; Stepchildren Donna Pyles, Vicki Dillon (Joe), several step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews; and a long time very close friend Reba Embree.

Virginia was preceded death by her Father Earl and Mother Myrtle Little; her brothers Raymond (Laure) and Dwight Little; her husband Donald Barr whom she married September 25, 1959 and lost in 1971, and John Smith whom she married later in life; her Son-in-law John Morrow, and a Stepson Gary Barr.

Friends and family may come to call at Farus Funeral Home in New Concord Monday December 11th from 11:00 am -12:00 pm, with a 12:00 pm funeral service officiated by Pastor Linda Morrow; followed by a burial at Bloomfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Otsego United Methodist Church or Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church.
