Thomas Hayes Obituary

Thomas N. Hayes, 76 of New Concord, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born in Cambridge on September 2, 1942.  He is the son of the late Arthur Revere and Sylva Hayes.  He graduated in 1960 from Cambridge High School and from Ohio University in 1972.  He taught six years at St. Nicholas Catholic Church School and for twelve years at East Muskingum.  He served as youth leader for several years and has been involved with church work since 1965.  He has served as the Pastor at The Tree of Life Church on Chandlersville Road in Zanesville since January 1, 1988.  He retired January 14, 2018 and since then he was filling in at Solid Rock Church, Sherman Avenue, Cambridge.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Anna Hayes, whom he married July 10, 1965; his children, Benjie (Tina) Hayes, Andy (Diane) Hayes, Michael Hayes all of New Concord and Chellie (Brian) Jannin of Jackson Missouri; his grandchildren, Joslyn (Kyle) Doll, Adrey (Dusty) Czigans, Nancy (Nick) Walters, Sierra Hayes, Adam (Carlie) Hayes, Rachel Jannin and Jared Jannin; his great-grandchildren, Xander Czigans Hayes, Landyn Doll, Waylon Hayes, Beau Doll, Wyatt Hayes and Elliot Hayes and his brother, Samuel Hayes of Vermillion, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Arthur, Dick, Dan and Dave.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Solid Rock Wesleyan Church, 832 Sherman Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours at The Tree of Life Church, 2220 Chandlersville Road, Zanesville, Ohio, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, October 19, 2018.  Services will be held on Saturday at 11 am with Pastor Randy Lee of Center Christian Fellowship of Washington Court House is officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Rich Hill Township Cemetery.  Farus Funeral Home is entrusted with caring for the Hayes Family.
