Roger Lee Gessel Obituary

 

Roger Lee Gessel, 74 of Zanesville and formerly of Malta, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 26, 2018.

 

Roger was born in Malta on July 23, 1944.  He was a hardworking man all of his life and always said he was “a Jack of all trades”.  He loved spending time in the outdoors hunting, camping and fishing and loved to ride his motorcycle every chance he got.  He was a member of the Eagles #302.

 

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Lynn (Wayne Sherman) Gessel of Zanesville and Angela Lee (Mark Hayes) Gessel of Zanesville; his former wife and special friend, Barbara Jean Harper Gessel; his grandchildren, Shannan (Billy) Coen, Dustin (Christy) Coen, Judy (Heath) Newland, Tiffany Newland, Bryan Gessel, Brandon (Tia) Hultgren, Gracie Hayes, Robert Newland and Crystal (Donnie) Linscott; 23 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond (Faye) Gessel, Larry Woodward, David (Patty) Woodward and Eric Gessel; his three sisters, Sue Geer, Judy (Paul Campbell) Graves and Donna Gessel and special friend and sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas.

 

Roger is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Ruth Esther (Robert) Woodward; his father and step-mother, Joseph (Tiny) Gessel; his sister, Sandy Gessel and a sister-in-law Jeannette L. Woodward.

A memorial service will be held 5 pm on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, 4509 Salt Creek Drive, Duncan Falls, Ohio, with Pastor Steven Harrop officiating.
