Robert P. “Bob” Leedom, 69, formerly of Zanesville, died at 2;22 A.M. January 3, 2018 at Genesis Morrison-Hospice House following a short illness.  He was born on June 27, 1948, in Zanesville, son of the late T. Everett and Verna Smitley Leedom.  He attended East Union Presbyterian Church with his parents and later Westwood Baptist Church.

Robert faced many challenges resulting from a childhood illness, but worked hard in everything he did.  He attended the Starlight Center, where he worked in the ceramics workshop, then moved on to custodial jobs at Muskingum University and East Pike McDonalds where he proudly worked for 25 years.  Bob enjoyed being a part of the track and field teams for Starlight and competing in Special Olympics where he received many medals for his running performance.  Bob also enjoyed animals and working on the family farm.

Surviving are two sisters, Linda (Donald) Knicely of Zanesville and Donna Smith of Tyler, Texas, one brother, John (Carol) Leedom of Norwich, one brother-in-law, Phil Mantooth of Akron, 7 nieces, 10 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Mantooth.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday at Westwood Baptist Church, 2395 East Pike, Zanesville. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Mark Ballmer, will follow at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Zanesville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or to Alzheimer’s Association.  Farus Funeral Home of New Concord has been entrusted with caring for the Leedom family.
