Norma Clevenger Obituary

Norma Ruth (Logan) Clevenger, 85, of New Concord, Ohio, died April 23, 2018, at Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born May 21, 1932, to Donald and Mildred (Hartzell) Logan in Portland, Indiana. She was graduated from South Side High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She became the first woman working for American Standard Plumbing to be trained in design bathrooms and kitchens using blueprints for new homes.

Norma married Robert “Bob” Clevenger November 26, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They also lived in Tampa, Florida, and Mansfield, Ohio, before moving to New Concord in 1963. They designed and built the home in which they resided for almost 54 years. Norma and Bob had four children, Pamela, Douglas, Brenda and Darrell.

Norma was a long-time member of the New Concord United Methodist Church and worked as the office secretary there for 24 years. She was a member of the Miriam Circle, United Methodist Women, JOY class, and Tots to Teens Mothers Club. She also was a volunteer for Angel Tree at the Zanesville mall for many years. As a Circle member, Norma helped make pillows for heart and surgery patients at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.

Norma is survived by her husband of 67 years, a sister Joan Rockey of Marysville, Ohio, daughter Pam (Warren) Riggle of Asheville, North Carolina, son Doug (Carol) Clevenger of Clarkfield, Minnesota, daughter Brenda (Ron) Murray of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and daughter-in-law Anne Clevenger of Greer, South Carolina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Darrell, and brother-in-law Robert Rockey.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at the New Concord United Methodist Church. A funeral service is scheduled 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, with visitation one hour prior.  Rev. Karen Graham and Rev. Doug Clevenger will officiate. Interment will be in the New Concord cemetery. Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is caring for the family.
