Neil Thomas Sawyer

Neil Thomas “Tom” Sawyer, 84 of New Concord, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of December 26, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on December 29, 1932 in Canton, Texas; the son of Neil O. and Rella Sawyer.  He worked as a plumber / pipefitter for Local #95 in Cambridge where he was a member since 1951.  He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, spending time in his garden, as well as cooking and listening to music.  In his younger years he enjoyed coaching; playing football, basketball and baseball and was very instrumental in starting the local girls softball league.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rosemary Sawyer, whom he married December 9, 1956; his children, Jodee (Dan) Achauer, Marcy (Mark) McManaway, Thomas (Kathleen) Sawyer, Creag Sawyer and Justin Sawyer; his nine grandchildren, Brian (Mekenzi) Achauer, Todd (Abbey) Achauer, Erin (Bryan) Paisley, Tisha (Jason) Babcock, Jamie (Chris) Hughes, Samantha (Mike) Moore, Mark Eric (Brandi) McManaway, Noah and Eli Sawyer; his 18 great grandchildren and one on the way and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his siblings Marshall and Harold Sawyer and Juanice Williams.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.  The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is entrusted with caring for the Sawyer family.
