John David Thomas

John David Thomas, 62, passed away on October 6, 2017, at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Oh. He was born on April 4th, 1955 in Cambridge, Ohio, to Albert and Dorothy Thomas.  John grew up in Cambridge, where he graduated from Cambridge High School.  John was a business owner and loved his profession. He was well known in the community for his expertise in painting and the quality of his work, but it was his friendly personality that people treasured. 

John married Connie Ballantine on May 7, 1983. They were happily married for 34 years. John loved the outdoors, cold weather, hiking at Salt Fork with his dogs, Lucky and Emma. He also loved spending time with his family, attending Cleveland Browns games and enjoying family gatherings. John also was an artist, who loved creating his own pieces.

John is survived by his wife, Connie, of New Concord; his two beloved sons, Jerrod (Darcy) Thomas, and Joshua Thomas both of New Concord. His granddaughter , Hailey Jo Thomas; his mother, Dorothy Thomas of Cambridge, his sisters , Shirley (Jeff) Milton of Byesville, and Sue (Aaron) Sikora of Cambridge; and his mother-in-law, La Wanda Ballantine of New Concord.  He will be deeply missed by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Thomas, and his father-in-law, Roy Ballantine.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for John at the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church from 4 to 8pm, on Monday, October 9, 2017; when the family will be greeting friends and family.  Services will follow on Tuesday morning the 10th, at the church starting at 11am. Pastor Tim Pollock will officiate services, and burial will follow at the Bloomfield Cemetery.  To honor John’s memory please make donations to the James Cancer Center, located at 460 W 10th Ave, Columbus, OH 43210.
