James E. “Jimmy” Searls, 68, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 5, 2018 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House.
Jimmy was born in Zanesville on August 2, 1949. He is the son of Jack J. and Kathleen V. (Inman) Searls. He worked for the Ohio Ferro Alloy and then for Ohio Bureau of Employment Services until he retired. He loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He was a member of the VFW Post #1058, American Legion Post #29 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He proudly served his country in the US Army with the 101st Airborne Division while serving in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was a proud and loving father and papaw and he never knew a stranger.
Jimmy is survived by his three children, Jamie Searls of Zanesville, Brody (Kaci) Searls and Jordon (Myranda) Searls both of Duncan Falls, his grandchildren, Kali Searls, Anthony “Tony” Searls, Brayden and Brynlee Searls, his two brothers, Danny (Kris) Searls and Rick (Carolyn) Searls and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by two grandsons, Alex Searls and Corey Taylor and his step-daughter Angie Shipley.

Visitations will be 3 to 7 pm Thursday, June 7, 2018 and from 10 to 11 am on Friday at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday with his brother, Rick Searls officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
