Dennis McDaniel

Dennis E. “Denny” McDaniel, 67 of Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on November 27, 2017.  He was born in Cherokee, Kansas on January 1, 1950 the son of the late Dale and Katherine McDaniel. 

Denny enjoyed coaching girls’ softball for many years, he previously worked for Sidwell Brothers as an operator and was a member of the United Mine Workers Local #1604 where he served as recording secretary for several years.  He formerly served with the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department as well as served as the Mayor of Cumberland during the 1990’s.  The highlight of his life was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren.

Denny is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary (Poland) McDaniel; his daughter Mindy (Terry) West of Kipling; his three grandchildren Trey West, Haylee West and Kole West; his brother Mike McDaniel of Byesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his two brothers Tom McDaniel and Gordon Jr. McDaniel.

Private family services have been held and Denny was laid to rest in the Cumberland Cemetery.
