John E. McClain

John E. McClain, age 86, of New Concord, passed away in his home in the loving presence of his family on Saturday, May 12, 2018.   He was born on November 2, 1931 in Nelsonville, Ohio to John & Bernice (Adams) McClain, Sr. John was a dedicated worker and friend who was always Helping others and lending a hand to someone in need.  He enjoyed working on the family farm, helping his neighbors, and keeping himself busy with various projects.  He worked as a Yard Supervisor for American Electric Power for forty years until he retired to work on the family farm.

He is survived by his two sons, John M. (Ginger) McClain, of Tallahassee, Fl, and Tony B. (Nancy) McClain,  of New Concord; three grandchildren, Jamie Harley, Tyler McClain, Sonya Leasure; and six great grandchildren, Tristan, Thatcher, Rylan, Lucas, Ellie, and Kaiden as well as a step-great granddaughter, Shelby.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Rosemary McClain, who passed away on January 11, 2011.

Friends may call at the Farus Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street, New Concord, Monday, May 14, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church, 13771 Kimberly Road, Nelsonville, with Pastor Gary Alton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until time of service. Burial will follow at Connett Cemetery, York Township, near Nelsonville.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
