Thaddeus Willison Lorimer

Thaddeus W. Lorimer, of New Concord and Sarahsville, passed away June 29th 2017 at his home. Thad was born September 3rd 1928, in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the Thaddeus W. Lorimer Sr. and Luella Bell Lorimer.

Thad graduated from New Concord High School in 1946, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years; retiring in 1985 as the New Concord Postmaster. Thad was a member of Westminster U.P. Church in New Concord,  a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, D.A.V. Chapter 12, and the American Legion Post 84. Thad had also been a Member of New Concord I.O.O.F. Lodge 761.

Thad is survived by his wife, Jane Marquis Lorimer, a sister: Mary Lou Wallace, his sister in law, Mary Ann Nell.  He will be deeply missed by his five daughters: Margo, Molly, Devannie, Robin, and Julie; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by lifelong friends, Bryan and Mary Fawcett.   In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Caroline Hunt, and a Brother Leo Bell.

Memorial services will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in New Concord on Thursday July 13th at 11AM with full military honors.  In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to The Autism Society of Ohio, 25 E Boardman St, Youngstown, OH 44503, or Hospice of Guernsey Inc., 9711 E Pike Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725.  The family is being cared for by Farus Funeral Home of New Concord.
