Welcome to the memorial page for

Ruth D. Harmon

April 2, 1920 ~ November 14, 2015 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Ruth Harmon, 95 of Chandlersville, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2015 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.

Ruth was born April 2, 1920 in Columbus, the daughter of the late Ralph and Laverna Roberts.

In 1928 when Ruth was 8 years old her parents put her on the train alone in Columbus to take a trip to Zanesville.  There she was transferred by the conductor to the Narrow Gage Railroad where her final destination was Chandlersville.  There she was received by Vernon and Pearl Kelso, from there to the Kelso farm two miles south on McDonald Road, their mode of transportation was a Buckboard Wagon pulled by a team of work horses.

While staying at the Kelso Farm, Ruth met Little Dan Harmon whom she married in 1957.  They lived at Dan’s farm on McDonald Road until his death in 1986.  Even though Ruth could not read, write or drive she refused to leave the home that Little Dan built for them.  After 10 years living by herself, she moved back to the Kelso farm where 95 years of wonderful life started.

Ruth is survived by her sister Blanch Morris of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her two brothers Ralph Roberts Jr and Luther Roberts and her sister Virginia Clarke.

In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated and no services will be held.
