Russell E. Miller

Russell E. Miller, 67 of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville passed away peacefully on October 21, 2016 at Genesis Hospital while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Russ was born in Crooksville on December 10, 1948.  He is the son of the late Thurman “Shorty” D. and Mary E. (Lincicome) Miller.  He retired after 25 years working for the Western Southern Life Insurance Company.  After retiring he went to work for Fed Ex.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Steelers Fan.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting.  He had a love for baseball having played and coached for many years and he is a member of the Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame.

Russ is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Miller, whom he married on May 22, 1976; his five children, Dave (Kimberly) Miller of Zanesville, Janda (Bryon) Beresford of Pickerington, Rusty Miller (Valerie) of Zanesville, Julie (Clyde) Rowan of Athens, and Halie (Danny) McPeek of Zanesville. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Logan, Landon, Kage, Kannon, and Pappy’s special girl, Lindsey; his siblings Nancy Hand of Zanesville and Bernie (Jaye) Lincicome, as well as his fur-babies Baxter, Bubba, and Lucy.    

In addition to his parents, Russ is preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Miller and his brothers Ronnie and Ted Miller.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. Josh Chrisman officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville.

Russ’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the care and kindness he received from Dr. Wegner, his staff, the staff of the Genesis Cancer Center, and all the good people of Genesis Hospice.  The family asks that in Lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701 or to the Genesis Cancer Center, 1246 Ashland Ave # 205, Zanesville, OH 43701.
