On Sunday, April 23, 2017, Ruby M. Ables was reunited with her loving husband and soulmate, Gilbert Ables, after 37 years of separation.  Ruby was called home while in the care of the Beckett House of New Concord; she was 88 years old.  She was born in Flatwoods, WVA on October 23, 1928 to Johnson and Ressa (Harper) Garber.  Ruby cherished her beloved family more than anything else in her life, and she was a devoted woman of God.  She enjoyed may past times including gardening, knitting, watching sports, bowling, and “back in the day” going on hunting trips with her husband, traveling to Draft Horse Shows, as well as going on cruises with family members.  She worked at the Shegog IGA, K-Mart, and Walmart; she also helped with the family business as an accountant for Ables Home Construction.  She loved being active and belonged to the Grange, and could always be counted on to cheer on her Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians.

She will be deeply missed by her children including Vicki (Jim, deceased) Morris, Debbie (Kenny) Lake, and Kenny Ables.  Her grandchildren will forever cherish her memory, Jason (Melissa) Morris, Trisha Morris, Travis (Erin) Morris, Lindsey Lake, Daniel Lake, Lacey Lake, Tara Reis, Cassie (Zach) Hugebeck, Kelly (Seth) Burdette, and 9 great-grandchildren, her sister Glenna McAdams, Betty (Jim) Yerian, Janet (Jerry) Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  She is predeceased by her parents, her husband and soulmate, Gilbert Ables, her brother, James (Georganna) Garber, and her sister Inabelle (Gene) Buchanan.

Friends and family may attend calling hours at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Tuesday, April 25 from 4 to 8PM.  Services will follow on Wednesday at the funeral home, with friends welcome to enter at 11AM, and services starting at 11:30.  Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate services, and burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  The family would like to extend their thanks to the Beckett House for the care they gave her during her time there.
