Welcome to the memorial page for

Roger A. Brosie

May 16, 1960 ~ October 18, 2016 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Roger Alan Brosie, 56 of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family and friends, while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Roger was born in Zanesville on May 16, 1960.  He is the son of Marilyn Brosie of Chandlersville and the late Paul W. Brosie Jr.  He graduated from Philo High School and Muskingum Area Joint Vocational School in 1978; he worked for Owens Brockway as a fork-lift operator for 37 years.  At an early age he began taking banjo lessons from Fred Dodd and began playing with Patsy Robinson, and then with the Country Roses Square Dance Band, Good & Country, Dixieland Band, New Found Country, Up 2 No Good and many others.  He was Baptist by faith and a member of Gage and Gavel Lodge #448, Olive Branch #251, Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite, OCWMA, American Legion, Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gold Wing Riders of America.

To say Roger enjoyed Country and Dixieland music would be an understatement.  To him Country and Dixieland music was the only “real music”.

He never sat still, and loved Life, which in many ways meant remaining active and working.  Even a few weeks ago, Roger was still playing music with the Up 2 No Good Band.

Roger is survived by his mother Marilyn Brosie, his wife Martha Brosie, his daughters Amanda (Mike) Smith and Amber (Eric) Hague; his step-son Craig (Shelly) VanNess; his step-grandchildren Macenzie, Payton, Cathryn VanNess and Reese Hague; his brother Loren (Sue Powell) Brosie and his sisters Vanessa (Ed Fouts) Brosie, Valerie (Bob) Norman and Vondalyn (Steve) Strauss and many nieces and nephews.

Masonic Services will be held Thursday at 8 pm and OES services will be held following the Masonic Services.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday with Rev. Paul Thomas officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Dutch Hill Cemetery in McConnelsville.
