Robert M. Tom, 96, of Chandlersville, passed on at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Beckett House in New Concord.   He was born March 20, 1921, to the late Frank and Frances (Allen) Tom in Chandlersville and graduated from Chandlersville High School. He married Ada B. Elliott on June 3, 1945, who preceded him in death in 1987.  He was a member of the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church.  Bob was a lifelong farmer on his Century Farm in Rich Hill Township and retired after 37 years of driving dump truck and mowing roadsides for Rich Hill Township, as well as private hauling.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

       Surviving Robert are his three daughters, Jeaneen (Larry) McDaniel of Rix Mills; Carolyn (Randy) Larrick of Cambridge and Merrilee (Randy) Rogers of Kenton; grandchildren Betsy (Steve) Witt, Cary (Steve) Belcher, Bryce (Rachael) McDaniel, Jay (Megan) McDaniel, Nathan (Angie) Larrick, Lindsay (Nick) Schnittker, Brandon Larrick, Beryl (Matt) Dudek, Elliott (Lacey) Rogers, Zoe (James Joun) Rogers and Skyler Rogers; and 22 great- grandchildren, who he lovingly referred to as his "pride and joy".   Also surviving is his sister, Anita Kreager; his brother-in-law William (Betty) McBride, and sisters-in-law, Lenna Nowels and Edith Hahn.

       Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ada, and infant daughter Melodie; sisters Irene Bethel and Verna McBride; sisters-in-law Elsie McLees, Genevieve Brown, Marjorie Elliott and Betty Elliott; brothers-in-law Dale Bethel, Jack Kreager, Gail McLees, Irvine Elliott, Larry Elliott, Paul Peyton, Ross Brown,  Jack Nowels, and Chuck Hahn; and nephews Dick and Roger Bethel.         

     A Celebration of Life and Legacy service will be held on Friday, April 14th, at the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church with Pastor James Gibson officiating.  Friends and family will be greeted beginning at 10:00 a.m. with services to be at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be in the Salt Creek Cemetery in Rich Hill Township with a private family service.  Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is assisting with arrangements.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church, 2770 Rix Mills Road, New Concord, Ohio 43762.
