Phylena Mae Baker, 96, was called home to the Lord in the morning hours of Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 while in the care of the Beckett House. She was born on October 8th, 1921 in Westland Township to Thomas and Mary (Turner) White. Phylena worked for thirty years at the Olde Towne Cleaner. She was a huge sports fan and loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds and the Buckeyes. She cherished the time that she spent with her family. She married Ralph Edward Baker on June 7th, 1940 after graduating New Concord high school in 1939.
Phylena is survived by her children, Joyce Anne (Dave) Bryson, and Thomas E. (Barbara) Baker, as well as her sister, Ada Lingle, 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Tonia Neff, her sister, Evelyn Warren Tolliver, and her brothers, Beryl White, Earl White, Thomas “Tommy” White, and Bill White.
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Phylena at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Thursday, February 8th from 3 to 7PM. Services will be held on Friday the 9th at the East Union Presbyterian Church, 59535 Claysville Rd, Cambridge, Ohio 43725 at 11am with Pastor Larry Jack officiating services. Burial will follow at the East Union Presbyterian Cemetery.
