Nolan Gail Prouty

Nolan Gail Prouty, 80, passed away in his home in the loving presence of his family.  He was born on September 1st, 1936 in Norwich, Ohio to Merle and Josephine (Pyle) Prouty. Gail proudly served as a member of the United States Army, and worked for 24 years as a Highland Township Trustee.  His true calling in life was farming, and he incorporated it into every aspect of his life.  He worked as a volunteer at the fair weighing horses and steers.  He enjoyed caring for draft horses, and worked for Muskingum Livestock.  He also had fun coon hunting and watching his family at tractor pulls.

            He is survived by his wife, Gusta Prouty, and his son, Mike (Rhonda) Prouty; he will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Andrew (Andrea) Prouty, Amanda (Isaac) Hughes, Micha Prouty, John Prouty, and Jesse Prouty.  He also leaves to mourn his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Emily Hughes, and Luke Prouty, his siblings, Naomi Worthington, Gerald (Carolyn) Prouty, Lester (Trudy) Prouty, daughter-in-law, Martha Prouty, his many stepchildren, grand-stepchildren, great-grand-stepchildren, and his special friend, Todd Thompson.  He is predeceased by his first wife, Helen (Powelson) Prouty, his son, Richard Prouty, his parents, and his siblings, Dennis Prouty, Donald Prouty, Geneva Vernon, and Glenna Bash.

            Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Gail at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Sunday, December 4th from 3 to 6PM.  Calling hours will continue on Monday the 5th at 12 Noon, with services starting promptly at 1PM.  Pastor Jim Williams will officiate, and burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery.  The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice for their wonderful care, and would ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
