Mary Lou McCormick

Mary Lou McCormick was called home to the Lord on Monday, April 6th while in the care of the Morrison House.  She was born in Monroe Township on October 11th, 1929 to Emmett and Florence (Bell) Waters. 

Mary Lou was a wonderful wife and mother, who focused on the time she spent with family and friends.  She cherished her family especially, and they cherished her as well.  She was an amazing cook, and made some of the best pies you’d ever taste; she also enjoyed doing crafts and sewing.  She loved to go dancing to Big Band music with her husband, Clay.  Mary Lou was a 65 year member of the Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church.  She wed the love of her life, Clay McCormick, on June 30th, 1950.

                Mary Lou is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Bertha Welker and Lillian Wagner, and her brother, Francis Waters.  She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Clay McCormick, her daughters, Dianna McCormick, Fran (Jim) Call, Cindy McCormick, and Kristy (Randy) Powell.  She also leaves four grandchildren to cherish her memory including, Candace (Blaine) Blyth, Scott (Leticia) Call, Mallory (Brent) Fannin, and John Morrison; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Blyth, her brothers and sisters-in-law, her many nieces and nephews, and a very special family friend, Tena Potts.

                Services for Mary Lou are to be private, at the family’s behest.  The family would like to thank Mary Lou’s neighbors and her church family for all of their support, and further express their gratitude to Genesis Hospice.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Genesis, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.  A memorial service in Mary Lou’s honor will be held later this summer, and will be announced when the date is finalized.
