                John Clay McCormick was called Home to the Lord on the afternoon of Monday, April 25th, 2016 while in the loving presence of his family at the Beckett House; he was 93 years old.  He was born in Highland Township on December 7th, 1922 to Otto "O.B" and Edna McCormick.  Clay loved farming, and enjoyed the time he spent outdoors.  He Loved and provided for his family.  Clay loved to go dancing to big band music with his wife, Mary Lou, and was a 60 + year member of the Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church.  He made his living as a farmer, but also worked for Cyclops Steel in Coshocton for 25 years.  He proudly served in the Navy during World War II.
Clay is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Lou McCormick, his parents, his brother, Francis (Marie) McCormick, brother, Lyle (Alice Ruth) McCormick, and his sister, Anita McCormick.  He is survived by his daughters, Dianna McCormick, Fran (Jim) Call, Cindy McCormick, and Kristy (Randy) Powell.  He also leaves four grandchildren to cherish his memory including, Candace (Blaine) Blyth, Scott (Leticia) Call, Mallory (Brent) Fannin, and John Morrison; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Blyth, a great-grandson, Lou Fannin, and another great-grandchild that is on the way;  he also leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Lester (Mary Ann) McCormick, and his sisters, Martha Shepler and Mary Hutcheson, as well as his many nieces and nephews, and a very special family friend, Tena Potts.
    Services for Clay are to be private, at the family’s behest.  The family would like to thank Clay’s neighbors and his church family for all of their support, and further express their gratitude to Genesis Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to both Clay, as well as Mary Lou.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Genesis, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701, or the Ballantine Scholarship Fund, C/O the Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church, 1800 Cambridge Road, New Concord, Ohio 43762.
